Chocolate-Overload Chocolate Squares

Festive season is here with a bang, well at least for the kids it is, my holiday kicks off in a few days time. As last week was filled with school parties and kiddie movie days, I decided to make this chocolate cake inspired by @saadzb Rocky Road Chocolate Cake.

My daughter had lots of fun decorating the cake with all sorts of chocolate goodies such as Astros, Kit-Kat and ofcourse every kids happy place – the land of colourful sprinkles.

This is a great one to whip up with the kids during the holidays and perfect for kiddie parties!

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups castor sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder

  • Separate your eggs, beating the eggs whites until stiff then set it aside
  • In a separate bowl, beat well the yolks, sugar, cocoa, oil and hot water
  • Sift the flour, cocoa and baking powder then gently fold this into the cocoa mixture
  • Fold the eggs whites into the mixture
  • Pour the batter into a well greased rectangle cake pan or any other depending on your preference.
  • Bake in the oven for 15-20min until a cake skewer comes out clean 🙂
  • For the chocolate topping, I melted the big slabs of Cadbury Dairy Milk and mixed in some nestle dessert cream. I would suggest adding in bit by bit until you get your desired consistency.
  • For the extra toppings, we added sprinkles, astros and kit-kat but you can literally go wild here. Enjoy!
